How old were you, and what kind of Car was it.

For me, it was a very early XJ Cherokee. My family took a vacation in one. I'm not sure of the year though. I was probably around two years old. I mainly remember it being a red Jeep.

Very first memory was of a '63 Impala wagon...I remember screaming blue murder when my father backed into a telephone pole with it. The first car I remember details was a '67 Chrysler 300 4 door...black interior, black vinyl top and a coppery/brown exterior. I think I'm rather older than you :)

Not sure what year it was but the car was a Buick LeSabre. Huge car, drank gas and sounded like a helicopter, good times.

Probably my mothers 1970 Mustang fastback. Brown, 302 v8, automatic. It might have something to do with my irrational love of that body style of Mustang. It looked a lot like this, but in worse condition.

I think it was a Renault Laguna estate, but I can't actually remember. It was definitely a Renault estate 7-seater, as far as my generally poor long-term memory suggests.

Like this, but with steelies and a Dukakis '88 bumper sticker. I remember it breaking down on the side of the GSP when I was like 3. That's my earliest car memory. I don't remember much of it other than we owned it and it broke down a lot.

BUT- The car I have the most extensive early memories of is my dad's '84 or '85 Skyhawk T-Type. I didn't know much about it then except it had cool louvers and hidden headlights and I thought it was super cool.

It's the car I came home from the hospital in. It was also her first new car (an '86 or '87) She traded it in shortly after the GSP incident for a brand new '95 5 speed Contour. No :/ we sold it 10 years ago for 4k with 267,000 miles, ran like a dream though. The only issue the 7mge has is HG failure, so if you over torqued the head like they should have from the factory, they're flawlessly reliable.

Saw it last week at Home Depot though! Talked to the person we sold it to. He didn't take care of the interior, it was pristine when we sold it.

Funny story, when I was 18 shopping for a car, I flew up to Kansas from Texas to check out one I found online that was squicky clean, weeeelllll I went there and the guy HAD A MONKEY IN THE BACKSEAT and the car was TERRIBLY disgusting on the inside, despite good photos online. The first car I remember from my childhood is my dad's '66 Mercury Parklane. We then "Downsized" to a '72 Fury III during the gas crises. The Plymouth had a 318 V8, which was way less thirsty than the 400+ cubic inch plant in the Mercury. After the Plymouth breathed it's last, we acquired a '79 VW Rabbit. I remember as a kid he would drive my sister and me to school every day and he loved playing the Bee Gees every single morning . When the three of us would load up into the car and he had a daily routine that consisted of

Turning car on
Putting it in gear and moving forward about 15 feet
Slamming brakes

'59 Ford Fairlane 500. I was about 3 or 4. My dad was a car guy, but he was also a career Army, family man, with three kids. He tinkered on that car every chance he could, then we went fishing.

My fondest memory of him and that car was fishing in the mountains of Montana and we (he) caught his limit of rainbow trout, but we hadn't brought anything to carry them home in - he improvised! The trunk of that car was mostly unusable because that's where the roof is stored, so Ford installed a 3x3x1 foot tub in the middle for luggage. My dad filled the tub with lake water, dumped the trout in (happily swimming back and forth), put the top down on top of them, and we drove home laughing all the way.

Ours had a white vinyl top. Until it got parked under an oak tree for three to four years, then we had a dreary beige vinyl top. Buick must have made 50 bazillion of those wheels starting in the mid 60's

1991 mitsubishi eclipse. got it from my uncle in 1998 when we moved out of the city. the interior had suffered a decade of college-student abuse and for some reason we called it the "Fun Car". my dad ditched it in 2002 for a similarly green, equally memorable '87 volvo 240 that soldiered on until 2007.

Wish that you could still find decent Mitsubishi Eclipses around still. There don't seem to be many that haven't been abused, or turned into complete Rice Pudding.

My grandparents' 1980-something AMC Eagle. It looked much like the one in this picture, though I recall a bit more fake wood. My grandpa had just retired at the time (very early 90s) as service manager from Hillview motors, which has variously been an AMC, Renault, Chrysler, and International dealership, and the car was always kept clean.

What are my best memories of it? That the whole thing smelled like vinyl. That three small children could easily play kickball in the back seat. And of course, plowing through what seemed like mountains and mountains of snow around Christmas time.

I think they had it until about 1999.

E80 Corolla, like this one.

I remember it never broke and had a cool nickname. Laugh at me all you want, but I liked it.
